A Quote That Inspires Me
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou
What I Work On
As a Research & Impact Analyst at SAP, I support the organization in using equitable practices to assess and understand its overall influence in various areas of K-12 education. I also work with individual SAP project teams to create and implement equitable systems of measuring and analyzing impact.
Why I Work Here
I appreciate that SAP intentionally takes steps to ensure that its research practices, such as impact evaluation, are both culturally responsive and equitable. I believe in the importance of continuously learning and improving, and am thankful to work at an organization that shares this mindset and practice, especially in the area of best serving students who have been historically underserved in American education.
My Education and Experience
I’m an Education Policy doctoral student at Teachers College (TC) at Columbia University. Some of my research interests include teacher retention, school reform, and policies concerning culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy. I previously worked on K-12 impact and implementation studies as a Research Associate at the Consortium for Policy Research in Education at TC, and have been a Teaching Assistant for several TC data analysis courses. I continue to grow my critical research thinking and practices as a member of Quant for What, a collective of graduate students, higher education faculty, and other research and policy professionals across institutions. Prior to attending TC, I was an educator for seven years working in middle and high schools in Nashville, TN, in both traditional public and charter schools. I taught ELA, coordinated school assessments and data analysis, and coached humanities and mathematics teachers in instructional practices. I hold a B.A. in Public Policy from the College of William & Mary and an M.Ed. in Instructional Practice from Lipscomb University.
More About Me
I currently live in New York City and enjoy singing in a choir, running, and attending live performances in my free time. I worked in Nashville, TN for 9 years and am still a member of the Educators' Cooperative in Nashville, a professional development group created by and for teachers. I grew up primarily in Stamford, CT and have enjoyed being in the Northeast for graduate school.
