About
Shelbi (she/her/hers) is a Math Director at Student Achievement Partners, where she works primarily with state education agencies, nonprofit organizations, publishers, and school districts to interrogate and dismantle longstanding practices in mathematics education. She holds B.S. and M.A. degrees in mathematics education as well as a Ph.D. in educational psychology, all from the University of Connecticut.
Experience
With experience as mathematics director at Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, research assistant for the National Research Center on Gifted and Talented, and a high school mathematics teacher, Shelbi believes that we must rehumanize mathematics to allow students to see themselves, their cultures, and their world in the mathematical work that they do. Outside of work, Shelbi can be found enjoying the clear blue waters off the coast of Tampa, Florida, where she moved with her four amazing children after 35 years in Connecticut.
