A Quote That Inspires Me

“Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.” - César Chávez

What I Work On

My role is just beginning at SAP and my areas of focus are multilingual learners and mathematics. In my role as a Specialist, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in designing instructional tools that center equity, are grounded in evidence, bold in their essence, and responsive to the needs of those we serve.

Why I Work Here

I work at Student Achievement Partners because of the organization's alignment with my own values and mission as an educator. As a former multilingual learner, I understand firsthand the linguistic barriers that can exist for students. I am a mission-driven visionary focused on re-humanizing the mathematics experience for all learners, particularly MLLs. It is a true honor to work at an organization that is committed to do this work, at scale, in such a robust and bold way.

My Education and Experience

Prior to joining Student Achievement Partners I worked as a Professional Learning Specialist at Illustrative Mathematics. Before transitioning to IM I taught a variety of grades at the elementary level, spending the bulk of my time as a 4th grade teacher, and then a mathematics coach, in a dual language program. I have teaching certifications in Elementary Education (1-6), ESL (PreK-6), and Mathematics (1-6), and hold a B.S. in Elementary Education from Westfield State University and a M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Mount Holyoke College. I have presented at a multitude of conferences, the hallmark to date being La Cosecha, one of the largest dual language conferences in the country, on the topic of culturally sustaining mathematics teaching in DLE. In addition to working at SAP, I am also a faculty instructor in a post-baccalaureate teacher preparation program at Collaborative for Educational Services.

More About Me

I live in Western MA with my partner, son, and dog. When I’m not working I enjoy spending quality time with extended family and friends, (frequent) Target trips, dinner at Iya (the best sushi restaurant around in my opinion!), and reading. I’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth and can never say no to dessert.
